Colors & light

In the past 3 months I have learned a lot about how to work a camera, editing, and about myself.

I learned my love for taking pictures of people and animals. I feel like it’s my job to capture a moment of their life where they love themselves. My goal with my art is to capture the beauty of someone being completely them and them radiating confidence.

This is my big Hannah (aka big sister in Greek life). She was my first model and she was so fun to take pictures of she oozes self confidence and photogenic beauty. Without the help of my other models including Hannah, I would have never known my love for involving nature and people.

Since working with Lightroom I felt as my editing skills have sky rocketed. I learned the importance of less is more when it comes to satiation and vibrancy, even though I love when photos are piping with color. Over the course of this class I learned a lot about the importance of lighting. It’s great to have a good base when it comes to lighting. By learning about the different types of light has helped me get to a place where I feel comfortable to take chances and risks.

This is Tehya. She taught me the importance of color, tones, and lighting. With working with the whites and the pops of color editing them was a slight challenge. I learned the importance of white balance and to make sure I wasn’t washing her out by making the water more white, but also making sure she stands out.

With this last project I had a blast editing each little trinket symbolism of color. I used the sun to light up the room. With also using the sun I felt if I lost the color a bit in translation, so I added a little bit more vibrancy into the picture.

I also individually with more of the trinkets went in and edited each one individually to give it the best composition and color I could.
